Introduction

The Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) will be celebrating Typography Day 2008 as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. This special program will be held on Friday, March 28 and Saturday March 29 at the IDC, IIT Bombay, in Powai, Mumbai. The celebration will include a seminar which will be devoted to addressing issues faced by type designers, type users and type educators. The program will feature presentations, along with a whole day of workshops dedicated to typography.

Typography Day 2008 is jointly being organized by the Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) along with India Design Association (InDeAs).

Themes

The seminar on 28th March will focus on:

  2. Standardisation issues of various Indian language
    scripts in digital media
  3. Indian language computing
  4. Challenges ahead for multilingual communication
    in Indian context
  5. Research activities in Indian language typography
  6. Calligraphy in Indian Languages
