Call for Papers (Closed)

We invite a 500-800 word abstract (with examples) in three categories:

  1. Concerns in Typography, Sensitivity and Fineness (Academic Research/Presentations)
  2. Innovative applications of Typography, Sensitivity and Fineness
  3. Student projects in Typography, Sensitivity and Fineness (Student Projects)

Main Typographic Issues for the conference:
The Conference will focus on the following issues:

  1. Experiments and Explorations in typography, sensitivity and fineness
  2. Sensitivity and Fineness in typography design
  3. Craftsmanship in typography design
  4. Intricate details of typography
  5. Sensitivity and fineness in typography design with multilingual scripts
  6. Sensitivity and fineness in typography design in native (indigenous) Scripts
  7. Sensitivity and fineness typography design within local contexts.
  8. Research activities in typography, sensitivity and fineness
  9. Education aspects of typography with sensitivity and fineness

Sub-themes for the conference:
The conference will focus on, but will not be limited to the following sub-themes:
  • Typography- Calligraphy, Sensitivity and Fineness
    Teaching and practice, Workshops and schools
  • Digital typography, Sensitivity and Fineness
    Mobile devices, Tablets, Web Typography
  • Environmental Typography, Sensitivity and Fineness
    Signage, Installations, Graffiti or Street Art, Architecture
  • Commercial typography, Sensitivity and Fineness
    Advertisements, Packaging, Retail, Product graphics, Fashion
  • Vernacular typography, Sensitivity and Fineness
    Native Calligraphy, Culture and Typography, Indigenous scripts
  • Typograph , Sensitivity and Fineness in Education
    Instructional Aid, Displays, Information Graphics
  • Typography, Sensitivity and Fineness in Media
    Television, Movie titling, Movie posters, Subtitling, Typography in motion

Abstract Guidelines:
The abstract submission should include the following:

  1. Title of the paper
  2. Keywords
  3. Abstract of the paper
  4. Three to four images of the work described
  5. Author name, Designation, Organisation and contact details (including email)
  6. Category of submission ( Academic / Industry / Student)

The total number of words including the title, keywords and the abstract should be a maximum of 800 words.


Paper and Presentation Details:
The selection of abstract is through blind jury.


Selected papers will need to be orally presented by the author/s during the conference on 7th, 8th, 9thMarch 2015 at Industrial Design Centre , IIT Bombay. The time duration for each of the paper presentations is 20/15/10 minutes followed by 5 minutes for discussion along with Q & A. The selected papers will be published during the time of the conference.


Formatting guidelines as well as a template for the full paper will be supplied along with the acceptance mail of the abstract.


Deadlines:
Deadline for abstract submission: 16th November 2014
Declaration of accepted abstracts:  15th December 2014
Deadline for submission of full paper:  20th January 2015
