Title: 'Designing a Devanagari Font in Glyphs 2'
A workshop by Georg Seifert, Berlin and Rob Keller, Mumbai
Abstract: In this hands-on workshop, Mumbai-based type designer Rob Keller and application author Georg Seifert will demonstrate how to create a Devanagari font in the recently released Glyphs 2. We will generate and draw a handful of letters using built-in tools, and learn how to precisely control vector shapes, components, and mark attachment. We will make use of the application's ability to automate OpenType feature code, including complex i-matra variations. After a brief glimpse at hinting, we will export an OpenType font, as well as webfonts, and test them in Adobe InDesign or a web browser.

Rob Keller
Rob Keller began in graphic design, but quickly found a love for typography and the possibility to create fonts for a living. He then went on to earn a masters degree in typeface design, during which time he became enamored with the Devanagari script. This lead to the founding of his company Mota Italic in 2008, and now since 2014 he's been living in Mumbai to focus more on Indian scripts.
