Title: 'Type Sensitivity – Forms, Counter forms and Patterns'

Abstract: The objective of the workshop is twofold one, to understand the finesse of type and two, to apply the understanding beyond its functionality. The participants will explore various letterforms (preferably in their regional script) study their form, counter forms, skeletal structure, joineries and finer details.
Letters are an abstract forms therefore its applications can be more than its intended purpose. The understanding of type characteristics is then translated into visual patterns creating new and interesting graphical forms. This exercise and exploration will help to understand composition skills, positive and negative spaces, pattern making, visual textures, proportions and visual aesthetics. In the end, the workshop aims to make the participants visually sensitive towards letterforms and design compositions.
Requirements: B/W Printer (with photostat facility if possible), A4 Sheets, Pencils, Erasers, Cutters and two Pen Drives. Participants are requested to bring their own laptops.
