Title: Exploring Letterforms in Devanagari
Abstract: This workshop is aimed to provide the participants a method for exploring letterforms. The workshop will use Devanagari script as its medium to explain the concepts. Beginning with anatomy of letters, their attributes of proportions, skeleton and flesh; the workshop will introduce methods to create variations in the structure of letters. The participants will work with a single letter of their choice from the Devanagari script and will do a hands on exercise of creating variations in skeleton and flesh. The methods will provide a systematic framework for the participants whilst exploring letters and creating a collection of myriad styles and expression. Further, these methods will be useful for brainstorming ideas for lettering, logos, wordmarks and typeface designs.
