Title: 'The Magic of Fusion - A Calligraphy Workshop'

Abstract:  The art of calligraphy manifests when an artist envisions letters and symbols beyond their evident forms. Each script has its unique appearance. Each letter is a design and can be exploited individually to create numerous designs and patterns. With this workshop we aim to expand our imaginations by taking one letter each from two different scripts and creating designs using a combination of their forms. Various alphabets from across the globe will be chosen and students will have the freedom to choose any two. This exercise in fusion of scripts will allow the student to explore the scripts, the culture they belong to, the possibilities of blending styles and mainly their potential of application in design. In a way they get to discover the aesthetic promise of various scripts and the magic their fusion creates.

Materials/ tools to be brought by student participants:
Black Ink, Camel Transparent Photo Color (Box), Markers, Water Bowl, Brush, Calligraphy Pens and Nibs.
